Postgraduate doctoral study (PGS) at our Faculty is organized according to the"Study and Examination Regulations of the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové" in accredited study fields. The study takes three years - result is Ph.D. title.
Study of clinical fields does not mean clinical training which leads in obtaining specialization of Master Degree type.
All applicants shall meet our basic requirement - certification of finished undergraduate medical degree (master's degree). In case there is not closed agreement between relevant country and Czech Republic about mutual recognition of university diploma in medical science, it is necessary for applicant to present confirmation of equation of university degree or certificate which will show equivalence of foreign university diploma with university diploma issued in Czech Republic in undergraduate study program prior to entrance examination.
In the accredited study fields of our Faculty, conditions and topics for doctoral study are published according to the number of supervisors and their number of research projects (grants). This means that there may not be admission proceedings for some study fields for a given academic year. Conditions for admission, dissertation thesis topics, content of entrance exams, etc., are different for individual study fields and are adapted every year according to the requirements of the Subject Co-ordinating Boards of PGS.
Until the appropriate Subject Co-ordinating Board of PGS submits requirements for declaration of admission proceedings; it is not possible to announce updated concrete information. Preliminary questions concerning study possibilities can be answered on condition that the applicant will submit professional curriculum vitae, i.e. basic information about his/her practice, qualifications, scientific interest and activities including a publication activity summary.
Admission proceedings for Ph.D. study for the following academic year are announced after discussion and approval of requirements of the Subject Co-ordinating Board by the Scientific Board and by the Academic Senate of the Faculty usually at the beginning of January, together with the deadline for submitting applications at the latest April 30. Concrete information about conditions of admission and topics of dissertation theses in particular study fields, including a list of required documents, are posted on the bulletin board of the Faculty. This information is also available via the Internet. Application forms are available in the Studying department of the Faculty.
Integral syllabuses are not available for individual study fields and specializations of doctoral study because scientific lectures are organized according to individual study plans with regard to the research topics and scientific ability of students.
Foreign students pay annually the study expenses of 150,000 CZK for study conducted in the English language according to the demands of the study fields. Accommodation, food expenses and financial support are not included in this amount and are negotiated separately.
Although it is possible to study the postgraduate doctoral study program in English, basic knowledge of Czech for foreign students is necessary for communication with patients at clinical departments.
